  • DESCRIZIONE: I bulbi da fiore fanno parte delle GEOFITE, sono piante con organi sotterranei che servono a garantire periodicamente la sopravvivenza della specie nei particolari periodi difficili dell'anno. Negli organi sotterranei sono infatti racchiuse sostanze di riserva e tessuti che permettono lo sviluppo delle gemme latenti dell'intera pianta.
  • COLTIVAZIONE: E’ regola generale piantare i bulbi ad una profondità doppia della loro dimensione in un terriccio composto per il 70% da terra da orto, 20% sabbia di fiume (o lapillo fine) e 10% di Humus.
  • CONSERVAZIONE: Non tutte le bulbose vanno estratte dal terreno tutti gli anni e conservate fuori terra nel periodo di dormienza. Narcisi, amarillis, nerine, sternbergie e gigli, per esempio, non ne hanno bisogno e vanno dissotterrate solo ogni tre o quattro anni per la separazione dei bulbilli per la moltiplicazione agamica. Le bulbose a vegetazione primaverile vanno estratte dal terreno appena le foglie si sono seccate, in giugno-luglio, ripulite dalla terra e dai residui.
  • MOLTIPLICAZIONE: Ovviamente il metodo di propagazione più naturale anche per le bulbose fertili è il seme. Ma volendo ottenere rapidamente nuove piante fiorifere, che abbiano le stesse caratteristiche del genitore, è consigliabile la moltiplicazione agamica che produce veri e propri cloni della stessa pianta. I metodi di moltiplicazione agamica sono diversi a seconda se abbiamo a che fare con un bulbo, un rizoma, un tubero oppure un cormo.
  • CARATTERISTICHE principali delle bulbose sono quindi di avere un periodo di dormienza ed uno vegetativo e di avere un organo sotterraneo che garantisca la conservazione di tutto ciò che è necessario per la ricrescita della pianta. I periodi di vegetazione sono diversi da specie a specie nelle quattro stagioni dell'anno. E' possibile avere nel proprio giardino delle fioriture da bulbo in tutte le stagioni.
